Barn Dance Dorset

Barn Dancing At Its Best

Ceilidh Or Barn Dance?

The word Ceilidh (kay-lee) is derived from the Gaelic word for ‘gathering’ or ‘party’. These days, when people think of a Ceilidh, they think of a fun filled night of wild dancing and good music.

The Americans have Hoe Downs, which follow similar lines, and Pass The Buck will call one or two Line Dances during a typical evening.

We like to entertain without the restricition of any specific cultural reference. We provide a mix of easily learned dances drawn from the Celitic influences of Scotland, Ireland and France, balanced with a variety of traditional and contemporary English Dances.

Sometimes we use the original melodies, more often though the band will "rock it up " with more modern rhythms and melodies that our audience respond to warmly.
